Took our 1998 Honda Civic into H-1 (Roswell) last week to have the brakes serviced because I had no time to fix it myself: new rotors, caliper, and shoes. Nothing else was seriously wrong with the honda as I had done all prior repairs myself and knew its condition. These 90s Hondas are little tanks and will run through ANYTHING, even with bad parts. But then, the mechanic suddenly finds ALL of these "new" problems and felt the need to keep reassuring that "we are not trying to rip you off" and "anyone else would charge an arm and a leg for that part." Honesty is an observable behavior and a state of mind, not a selling point. So the fact that this company has to exclaim how "honest" they are in every conversation, should probably be a sign that they are the complete opposite. I fell for the trick, unfortunately. Anyways, the power steering in my car was competely fine until i took it to "Honest-1". The mechanic declared that the pump was about to go out. Then within less than 24 hours, and after having apent $600 for a simply brake job, my power steering pump went bad overnight. Now the car is undrivable until i can afford the fix. The mechanic even tried to tell me i needed an oil change and how the dipstick read that the oil level was near empty. Yet, I changed the oil myself a month before. Plus, I checked the oil and it was perfectly filled. Ive worked on all of my cars in the past and have never trusted mechanics to do the job as well as me. And clearly I should have NEVER went against my gut instinct because now my car is worse off. Next time, I will find the time to repair myself! Do not be fooled by the company's name and google/youtube your car problem before you taking it to a mechanic. It could be an easy and cheap fix that you can do yourself!
